Mali

ENGIM has been active in Mali since 2007, the year the first structured project was launched in the country. Since then, despite difficult political and social conditions—particularly the crisis that began with the 2012 rebellion in the north—ENGIM has maintained a continuous and well-established presence in the country.

Since 2012, ENGIM has been officially accredited as an international NGO by Mali’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Local Communities.

Cooperation activities span a vast territory and focus on three key areas:

  • Bamako
  • the Kayes Region
  • the Mopti Region
  • the Koulikoro Region

Although historically engaged in sustainable development projects, in recent years ENGIM has also carried out emergency interventions to support communities most affected by armed conflict and instability.

ENGIM integrates various areas of intervention—food security, local business development, vocational training, access to water, and emergency response—through a comprehensive set of actions: from targeted training in key sectors to support for the creation of micro-enterprises and self-employment pathways, offering incentives for startups, training on business plans and entrepreneurial techniques, support for business launch, internships at local companies, as well as grants and scholarships.

The strength of ENGIM’s work in Mali lies in its collaboration with a solid network of local partners, with whom it shares the mission of improving living conditions for people in one of the countries with the lowest human development index in the world.
